- Pretoria Botanical Gardens
Union Builidngs
This was the setting for President Nelson Mandela’s famous inauguration in 1994 and is seen by some as the greatest architectural masterpiece in South Africa. The buildings were built form light sandstone and were designed by Herbert Baker in the English monumental style.
Pretoria Botanical Gardens
An array of plants from all over South Africa decorate these gardens and are especially attractive during the winter months when different species of Aloe are in bloom. The garden is also home to more than 198 bird species and a number of reptiles and small mammals.
Freedom Park
Freedom Park opened in December 2007 and is space where visitors can reflect on South Africa’s past. The park is established on the corner stones of human dignity, rights and freedom and serves as a reminder of the South Africa people. It pays tribute to those who lost their lives in the struggle and includes a symbolic burial ground.
South African State Theatre
This national theatre is located in Church Street and hosts five theatres and huge public square where some of the best productions in the world can be seen.
